On Friday, my family and I went up to Mesquite, NV to meet some family there and go quadding. One of my cousins was in a dance competition in St. George, so they decided to bring their quads and invited us. We didn't leave until I got off work on Friday and then drove all the way up there. After we got out of Vegas my mom had me drive the rest of the way, we got there about 1:30 am and my family slept the last hour. We got checked in and hit the sack because we were all dead tired. The next morning we went to breakfast with our cousin, Mike and his son, Cade. After breakfast my family headed up to St. George to meet my favorite cousin, Tam! We were going to meet her at her Paula's, her favorite place to eat. Her birthday was on Thursday, so we stopped at the gas station on our way into town and bought her a bunch of gifts. I know you are thinking, "What kind of birthday presents could you possibly find at the gas station?" Well, let me tell you. We got her stay awake, a shot glass, diet pepsi, comb, floss, street map of St. George and Cedar City, a big blue diamond, car air freshner, sucker with a scorpian in it, and a mood ring. We made her wear the mood ring while she opened this all up because we needed to know her mood. HAHA! If any of you watch FRIENDS, then you might find the humor in this. Tam's son, Kyson and her husband came to lunch with us. It was so good to see Kyson. He just got back from his mission in January and I hadn't seen him since way before his mission.
After we got done with lunch, we hit up Deseret Book and then headed back down to Mesquite to do some quadding. We just went on the south side of town and we didn't start out until about five. It was beautiful where we went quadding. We took this trail that was supposed to wrap back around and end up close to where we parked. At one point, we got to this hill and my sister and I were following Mike and Cade. They have racing quads, so they are light. When they got about 3/4 of the way up their quad started tipping so Mike tried to get off but just fell off instead and somehow lost his shoe in the process. I'm not sure how because he lost his shoe on the opposite side of where he fell off. When he fell off, the quad started rolling backwards and I have never seen a grown man move so fast. He jumped up but had kinda lost his balance and was running down the hill backwards until he caught himself on our quad. All my mom and his brother, Kevin, could see was his running down the hill backwards and they were trying to figure out what had just happened. They pushed their quad the rest of the way up and since our quads have 4 wheel drive we just continued on up without any problems. After my mom came up, Kevin came flying up the hill at about 100 mph (well maybe not that fast but it was fast) and showed us all up.
At that point Kevin's tire had started going flat so he told us that he had to take off and try to get back to the car before it was all the way flat or he would be screwed. So he took off like a bat out of hell and we started following. We were driving down the road and I just kept noticing that the road we were on was going more towards Mesquite than over to the cars. Finally, everyone started noticing this and Mike had gotten a message from Kevin telling us where to turn off and we had missed it by a couple of miles. We all turned around and went back but there were so many roads off of that one that we were all confused. We knew the general direction of where we were supposed to be going but with all of the different roads it made it tough. We finally found the right road and by that point Kevin was in his truck looking for us. When we saw his headlights we were all cheering. Thank goodness Kevin went ahead of us and was able to find his way back to the cars. After being lost for two hours it was good to be found. After got back to the hotel we all went to dinner and then went to bed. I love hanging out with my family, they are awesome.
