My Final Good-bye

My great-grandma has been in the hospital since October 11 and she is not doing very good. So, this past weekend my mom, sister and I went up to Colorado to say our final good-byes. I did pretty good until we were leaving and that's when I broke down. And she just kept telling me, "Don't cry. It's going to be okay. I promise." She is almost 86 and she is barely existing. She weighs about 85 pounds. She can't even sit up. I know this is the best thing for her but it's still really hard to lose someone you love. She just doesn't need to suffer anymore.

This past summer we went through kind of the same thing with my grandma. She went unresponsive one day and she is a DNR (meaning they are not supposed to CPR or anything like that to try to revive her) but they her bi-pap on her and that's what kept her alive. After a while the respiratory therapist came in and told us that she was making no effort to breathe on her own, that the machine was doing all of the breathing for her. Knowing my grandma's wishes, we decided to take her off of the machine and let her go peacefully. We all came in and said our good-byes. My mom had called my favorite young women's president to see if she could find someone to come give my grandma a release of life blessing. And when she got to the hospital she was telling me about this book she was reading. It was about a girl that was living in the pre-existance. And this little girl just couldn't understand coming to a life where everyone is sad to see someone die and return to our Heavenly Father's presence. I just try to keep this thought in my head when trials such as these come about. Oh and by the way, my grandma did end up waking up the next morning and she is still doing good to this day.

Here are some pictures of our trip home from Colorado:

Utah Fun-ness!!

Time to update you on my fun trip. I went up to Utah last week and had a blast. I left on Wednesday, the 8th, and drove as far as my cousin's house in Enterprise, Utah. It's about 40 miles north of St. George...for those of you that have never heard of it. I spent the night there and the next morning. It was good to see her and her family and get to visit with them. I left her house at about 2:00 pm on Thursday and headed on up to Provo to see my good friend Tricia. I got there at about 5:30ish. That night we went out to dinner and then hung out with some friends of hers (one of which is the most gorgeous man i have ever met). They were playing basketball at BYU so we went to watch them and guess who we ran into?!?!?! Dusty Kleinman - Eric's older brother. Only at BYU!! He was playing on the opposing team of Tricia's friends. After the game we went back to her friend's house and watched "The Office" and hung out. It was lots of fun because they were really funny.

Here is Dusty at the basketball game.

Tricia and I bored watching the basketball game. This is Ben getting "The Office" ready for us to watch. And yelling at Tricia for taking pictures of him.

On Friday night, we went out to PF Changs for dinner and then went to the Mount Timpanogos Temple. It was beautiful but it was so cold out that every time we tried to take a picture it turned out blurry because we were shaking so much. After all that, we went to hang out with her friends again. They were playing Rockband and man they are intense. It was freakin hilarious to watch them play.

Then, Saturday was sooo much fun. Tricia and I drove up to Price to watch our friend, Tauna, play volleyball. It was so much fun getting to hang out with her. After her game we went to dinner and then went back to her dorm and hung out for a few hours. I was so glad that we did that.

Sad to be leaving Tauna.

This is the CEU cheering section. They were freakin hilarious.

Then on Sunday, I got up super early (for me at least) and headed back home. Overall, it was an amazing trip but I was glad to be back home to the Arizona warmth.

This Is Insane!

So apparently this morning around 3:00 some drunk that was running from the cops decided that he would hide from them on our street. When he pulled onto our street he went between two houses, almost hitting one of them, and took out our neighbors whole yard, including her peach tree. Then proceeded to run over her mailbox to get across the street where he ran into our other neighbor's house and dropped off the peach tree. And I guess while trying to leave he then leveled our mailbox and the neighbor's whose house he ran into. Apparently there had been a hit and run accident at the intersection by our house and that's why the cops were chasing him. But seriously, how does someone sleep through something like that?????

Here is the house.

This after he hit the house and dropped off the peach tree.

Bike Riding!

Today my mom and I went bike riding. We rode six miles round trip and we took my little weiner dog with us. By the time we had gotten to the three mile mark where we turned around she was so pooped she could barely walk anymore. So this is what we had to do...

Withdrawals!

So, it's only been two days since I have worked and gotten to see my kids but I miss them like crazy. This next week is fall break and so I won't get to see them for a whole other week. It's funny how they just grow on you. They are all just so sweet and innocent. I love it when they come up to me and give me great big hugs while yelling "Miss Kourtney!!!". It makes me feel so loved. These kids have definately helped me through some difficult times. I love them and can't wait to go back to work.
